Ligentia expands to India, opening offices in Mumbai and Tuticorin

London, England – 4 July, 2023Ligentia, a leading global supply chain solutions provider, is expanding its platform by opening offices in two locations in India, it was announced today. Ligentia will operate in two strategic locations from July 1, 2023 – Mumbai, which will serve as the regional head office as well as a second location in Tuticorin.  From these offices, with centralised operations and processes, Ligentia will service all major sea and air ports across India.

Sunita Thomas has been appointed Country Director of India. Thomas brings over 25 years’ logistics sector experience to the role, most recently working as Vice President, Ocean at New Globe Logistik LLP based in Mumbai. Prior to this, she has also held senior roles at Allcargo / ECU Line and C.H. Robinson.

Ms Thomas commented on her appointment: “I’m thrilled to be joining Ligentia as Country Director of India to spearhead its growth and expansion plans. Ligentia’s commitment to constantly evolving and optimising technology and processes aligns with my passion for innovation and vision to deliver excellence. I’m looking forward to collaborating, building and leveraging on our collective talents and skills for an exciting journey ahead!

Ligentia’s plans to manage its own operations in the Indian subcontinent extend beyond India. In February this year, Ligentia and CF Global, a leading logistics provider in Bangladesh, agreed to establish Ligentia liaison offices in Dhaka and Chittagong and hired 10 staff to better support customers exporting from Bangladesh.

Jan Skovgaard, Ligentia COO remarked on the expansion in the Indian subcontinent region and appointment of Ms Thomas in India: “This is a very exciting step for Ligentia as we create a truly global supply chain management provider, brought on by shifts in sourcing trends and the drive towards more sustainable supply chains. We’ve noted in the last couple of years a significant increase in customer volumes coming from the Indian subcontinent region and felt strongly that it was time for Ligentia to take accountability for service levels in the region to ensure that we are in the best position possible to support new and existing customer growth. I’m thrilled that Sunita is joining us – her knowledge and understanding of this market and ability to build strong relationships will be invaluable as we establish ourselves as a key player in the region.”

Established in 1996, Ligentia has evolved from a UK-based team to an organisation with a global footprint, with offices across the UK, Europe, Australia, North America and Asia, as well as our Global Technology Hub in Leeds, UK. Ligentia received investment by Equistone Partners Group in 2021, and in 2022, and strengthened its presence in mainland Europe with the acquisition of VGL Solid Group in Poland. Just last month, Ligentia announced that it has established teams in Hamburg and Rotterdam to support the German and Benelux markets.
