Cross-docking

Cross-docking is a process where incoming goods are unloaded and transferred directly to outbound vehicles, with little or no time in storage. Goods are sorted at a cross-dock facility by destination, then reloaded for onward delivery, usually within hours rather than days.

Why it matters for your supply chain: Cross-docking reduces storage costs and handling, and it speeds up the flow of goods to stores or distribution centres. It works best for fast-moving, predictable stock.
